AICTE YASHASVI (Young Achievers’ Scholarship and Holistic Academic Skills Venture Initiative) Scheme 2024

The AICTE YASHASVI scheme aims to support meritorious students pursuing engineering in core branches . As the field of higher education undergoes a transformative phase, this initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, encouraging students to excel in Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering at both diploma and undergraduate levels.AICTE has introduced a scholarship scheme.

Objectives

The primary objective of the YASHASVI scheme is to motivate students to pursue engineering education in core branches. By doing so, it ensures the growth of manufacturing industries and supports India’s technological advancement.

Year of Commencement

  • The scheme will begin in the academic year 2024-25.

Eligibility for Scholarship

  • Candidates must be admitted to the first year of a degree or diploma course in AICTE-approved institutions.

Number of Scholarships

  • A total of 5,000 scholarships are available annually:
    • 2,500 for degree courses.
    • 2,500 for diploma courses.
  • Scholarships are distributed state/UT-wise as per Annexure-A and Annexure-B.

Amount of Scholarship

  • Degree Level Students:
    • Rs. 18,000 per annum, renewable for up to four years.
  • Diploma Level Students:
    • Rs. 12,000 per annum, renewable for up to three years.

Mode of Payment

  • Scholarships will be paid through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) annually.

Procedure for Applying

 

  1. Eligible candidates must apply online via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP)  https://scholarships.gov.in/ after the application process is initiated.
  2. Applications must be verified by the host institution.
  3. The Department of Technical Education (DTE) of the respective State/UT will conduct a second-level verification.

Criteria of Selection

  • Degree Level Students:
    • Selection is based on the merit of the 12th-grade qualification.
    • A state/UT-wise merit list will be prepared.
  • Diploma Level Students:
    • Selection is based on the merit of the 10th-grade qualification.
    • A state/UT-wise merit list will be prepared.

Methods of Resolving Ties

  • Degree Level Students:
    • Percentage of Marks in the 12th Examination.
    • Age: Older candidates will be ranked higher.
  • Diploma Level Students:
    • Percentage of Marks in the 10th Examination.
    • Age: Older candidates will be ranked higher.

Reservation

  • Reservation will be in accordance with the respective State Government’s policy.

Renewals

  • Scholarships are renewable annually upon submission of the passing certificate/mark sheet and a letter from the Head of the Institution via the NSP.
  • Failure to get promoted to the next class/level will result in forfeiture of the scholarship.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The gap between passing the qualifying examination and admission should not exceed two years.
  2. Applications are invited annually through the National e-Scholarship Portal.
  3. Reserved category students qualifying in the General Category merit list will be counted under the General Category.
  4. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
  5. Candidates who drop out in subsequent years are ineligible for further scholarships.
  6. Shifting to non-core branches will disqualify the candidate, and the scholarship must be refunded.
  7. Receiving financial assistance from other sources will result in discontinuation and refund of the scholarship.
  8. AICTE will implement and monitor the scheme.
  9. CGPA will be converted to a percentage using a multiplying factor of 9.5.
  10. If both CGPA and total marks are provided, total marks will be considered.
  11. Grades will first be converted to CGPA, then to percentage.
  12. A provisional list of shortlisted candidates will be published on the AICTE web portal. Queries regarding the merit list are entertained for a month post-publication.
  13. Non-payment issues due to invalid/wrong account numbers will be addressed within six months from the merit list publication.

This scheme represents a significant step towards enhancing technical education and fostering a new generation of skilled engineers. Through structured support and clear guidelines, AICTE aims to promote excellence and inclusivity in engineering education across India.
