Launch of Portal for National Awards to Teachers (Higher Education) 2024
Secretary of Higher Education, Shri Sanjay Murthy, alongside Chairman of AICTE, Shri T. G Sitharam, inaugurated the portal for submitting nominations for the National Awards to Teachers (Higher Education) 2024. The Department of Higher Education, under the Ministry of Education, has released detailed guidelines for nomination submissions.
उच्च शिक्षा सचिव श्री संजय मूर्ति ने एआईसीटीई के अध्यक्ष श्री टी. जी. सीथाराम के साथ राष्ट्रीय शिक्षक पुरस्कार (उच्च शिक्षा) 2024 के लिए नामांकन जमा करने के लिए पोर्टल का उद्घाटन किया। शिक्षा मंत्रालय के तहत उच्च शिक्षा विभाग ने नामांकन प्रस्तुत करने के लिए विस्तृत दिशानिर्देश जारी किए हैं।
These prestigious awards aim to recognize outstanding teachers and faculty members from both technical and non-technical higher education institutions, as well as Teachers of Polytechnic Institutions. The awards will be categorized into three broad disciplines:
ये प्रतिष्ठित पुरस्कार technical and non-technical उच्च शिक्षा संस्थानों के साथ-साथ पॉलिटेक्निक संस्थानों के उत्कृष्ट शिक्षकों और संकाय सदस्यों को मान्यता देने का उद्देश्य रखते हैं। पुरस्कार तीन व्यापक विषयों में विभाजित होंगे:
1. Engineering & Technology, Architecture
2. Pure Sciences (including Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences), Medicine, Pharmacy
3. Arts and Social Sciences, Humanities, Languages, Legal Studies, Commerce, and Management

Eligibility for National Award :
The award is open to all faculty members of colleges, universities, higher educational institutions, and polytechnics in India, provided they meet the following criteria:
- The nominee should be a regular faculty member.
- The nominee should have at least five years of full-time teaching experience at the Undergraduate and/or Postgraduate level.
- The nominee should NOT be above 55 years of age as on the last date of receiving applications for the awards.
Note:
- Vice-Chancellors, Directors, and Principals (regular or officiating) are NOT eligible to apply.
- However, individuals who have previously held such positions but are below 55 years of age and still in active service are eligible.
Procedure of the Nomination | नामांकन की प्रक्रिया :
- Registration on Nomination Portal: Candidates must register on the nomination portal.https://www.awards.gov.in/Registration/SignUp
- Filling the Nomination Form: After registration, candidates need to fill out the online nomination form.
- Uploading Documents: Required documents, including academic certificates, experience certificates, and other relevant documents, must be uploaded along with the form.
- Review by Committee: All nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee, which will evaluate the candidates based on their qualifications and achievements.
- Selection Process: The selection committee will prepare a list of selected candidates and forward it for final selection.
- Notification: Selected candidates will be informed of their selection and invited to the award ceremony.
Self-Nomination (Singular Basis):

- Former or existing Vice-Chancellor/Director/Principal/Faculty Member/Colleague from the same University/Institute/College/Polytechnic, where the nominee holds regular employment, can nominate.
- Previous nominees/nominations are eligible for re-nomination.
Purpose of the National Award to Teachers 2024:
The aim is to recognize and honor the distinctive contributions of some of the finest faculty members in the country for their dedication and hard work, particularly in teaching and pedagogy. The award seeks to acknowledge those whose efforts have not only improved the quality of higher education but also enriched the lives of their students. It celebrates the unique and groundbreaking achievements of faculty members in areas such as:
- Teaching-learning
- Community outreach
- Institutional service

- Novelty of work in the field of higher education
