This is because these features are often tied to the administrative controls and domain settings available in G Suite for Education.

Limitations of Gmail-based Google Classroom Accounts:

  • Gmail-based Google Classroom accounts are typically associated with personal Gmail addresses rather than institutional domains. These accounts may lack access to certain advanced features such as:
    • Originality Reports: Used for detecting plagiarism in student submissions.
    • Rubric: A tool for creating grading rubrics and providing consistent feedback.
    • Parents Connect: Features that facilitate communication between teachers and parents or guardians.

Creation of Email IDs on Institution’s Domain:

  • One of the advantages of using G Suite for Education is the ability to create email addresses for students under the institution’s domain (e.g., student@school.edu). This allows for centralized management by the educational institution and enhances security and control over student accounts.

How to Use Google Classroom: Step By Step Guide

Step 1 : Create a Google account : If you don’t already have a Google account, you’ll need to create one. Visit accounts.google.com and follow the instructions.

Step 2: If You are using Institutional Email ID as Teacher. Then You can access full Feature Mode.

Ensure Students have e-mail IDs on the same domain (institutional). After that you have to open your browser and Visit Google Classroom: Go to classroom.google.com.

Step 3 : Or while you are logged in to your institutional id, select it from Google Apps Suite.

Step 4: Now Google Classroom create a space for you.

Step  5: Now choose your role. If you are a teacher, you have to create a new classroom. If you are a student, you have to find a class and join the classroom.

Step 6: You may now create your first class from this page. check these steps

Steps 7: Once you create, it will be displayed here then. Your class Ready

Steps 8: Here you can Expolre Notification Messages, List of Students, Assessment and Access code to go into the course by the students.

Step 9: Here you can create Teaching Assessment material .Click on classwork for create Assignment, Quiz, Question, Material, Reuse post.

Step 10: You can create assignment according this step by step.

Step 11: Here You can Variety of content can be added.

Step 12: Here Teacher can add Teachers and invite to students.

Step 13: Grades and Assessment

Step 14: Each Class has its own GOOGLE DRIVE FOLDER in the Teacher’s Google Drive. Assignment.
Submissions are automatically saved in Separate Folders inside this Class Folder.

IF YOU USE Your Personal G-mail for Google Classroom:

  1. Undertake that you are not using it at an organised educational institution as G-suite is free for educational institutions, so one should use that.
  2. Some features e.g. Originality Reports, Rubric, Parents Connect are not available to G-mail based Google Classroom.
  3. G-suite enables the creation of E-mail IDs for students on the institution’s domain.
